We have an awesome team here at Synapsis. To celebrate them, we’re interviewing a new designer every week. This week we’re talking to our Junior Art Director Sam! She’s been with us since April, and has already done some amazing work.

In your own words, what do you do at Synapsis Creative?

I lead and work with a team of talented designers. Together we create beautiful designs appropriate to our briefs.

And what’s your career path been like?

I studied Visual Communication and International Studies. After graduating I became a presentation designer. From there I became a Senior Presentation Designer, then a Studio Manager. Now I’m a Junior Art Director!

So how did you get into the presentation design industry?

It was actually my first job out of university. After graduating I took a holiday, then started job hunting as soon as I was back. After six months of searching for graphic design work, a presentation design company hired me. I’ve been in the industry ever since.

What sort of projects do you love working on?

It’s hard to say. I’ve worked on many projects, but my favourites are presentations with unusual aspect ratios (like 3:1 or 5:1). I also like working on presentations over more than 1 screen and highly animated videos.

And what would you say inspires your work?

The idea that I can always make something better than what it was originally. That I can address the shortcomings of any job.

What special skills and expertise do you bring to the table?

A mix of design, leadership and PowerPoint experience.

So what do you enjoy most about your role?

The range of clients and designs we get to work with!

And finally, what do you like to do in your free time?

I like playing piano, doing pilates, watching movies, drawing, and reading.
