The account manager is vital in this business since most designers and creatives are generally a little introverted and socially inept. Account managers are the buffer between our agency and our clients – ensuring our work is aligned to expectations and that we consistently underpromise and overdeliver. Meet Santi, our ‘client caretaker’.
What do you do in your role as Account Manager?
My role is to establish and strengthen client relationships with the company I represent. Whether that be through presenting new opportunities to the client, or just having a casual catch-up, I’m here to always be building rapport with my clients as a representation of Synapsis Creative.
What has been your career path leading up to this role?
I first begun as an Account Coordinator moving to Account Executive in television sales. That is where I got my first taste of sales and account managing experience. My second role was a Media Manager and then a Senior Media Executive working mainly across digital and publication. I like to consider myself a jack-of-all-trades.
How did you get into account management?
My favourite part of every role I’ve had so far is managing client relationships. Every client is unique, no matter the similarities between clients, and that brings across a new set of approaches and challenges. I’ve always found this to be the most fun part of all the roles I’ve had so far, so it was only natural to pursue an account management position.
What sort of projects do you most enjoy working on?
Anything! I treat all projects and clients with the same level of enjoyment. It doesn’t matter whether they are billion-dollar company, or mum-and-pop business, all projects are enjoyable in their own way.
What are your best sources of inspiration?
My biggest sources of inspirations are an endless list of fictional characters that I’ve read and watched. Not Mad Men though.
What special skills and expertise do you bring to your role?
I bring creative expertise to the role, and with that comes creative solutions to everyday problems. . My special skills include an ease for building relationships and identifying new opportunities for clients, both essential components of account management. I am also considered a mean baker.
What do you enjoy most about your role at Synapsis Creative?
So far I enjoy the existing portfolio of clients and the people I work with. The role isn’t your typical account management role so I am very excited to see what challenges I’ll face down the track.
How do you enjoy spending your free time?
In my down time during the week I love to read, draw and create whatever I feel like. Whether this be sculptures, clothes or paintings, creating is my bread and butter. However, my weekends usually consist of being out and about and enjoying wherever that leads me!
