Synapsis Creative recently opened a satellite office in San Francisco to extend our agency’s reach and capabilities. As part of this growth, a couple of our US staff members visited us in Sydney to learn the ropes, meet the team, and share their experiences. Allow me to introduce our Account Manager, Adam.
What do you do in your role as Account Manager?
As Account Manager, I take care of our client relationships and make sure that we have fostered a positive and collaborative one. I also relay information and requests from the client to our agency, and ensure these projects are done according to the brief, on time, and within budget.
What has been your career path leading up to this role?
I started as a Content Contributor for a friend who was starting her own marketing firm – writing product descriptions and articles specifically for her fashion industry clients – but my desire to be more involved in the marketing/advertising industry led me to seek and accept an internship with a boutique agency in Downtown Los Angeles. I was able to move up from intern to Project Manager within 3 months, and a couple more months later I left the company due to personal circumstances. To make some sort of living, I became a Freelance Marketing Specialist for friends and friends-of-friends, offering my expertise in social media marketing, public relations, layout design, and business development to find the right solutions to their marketing needs. When high living expenses got to be too taxing, the stars aligned, and I was invited back by my former agency to be their Account Coordinator for 2.5 years. As fate would have it, I fortuitously found a listing for Account Manager with Synapsis Creative on Indeed.com, and here I am.
How did you get into account management?
I have always found myself to be sociable, outgoing, and with a deep desire to help people. And with my education in Business Administration, I aligned my academic background with my personal strengths and wound up in account management.
What sort of projects do you most enjoy working on?
I love working on projects that allow me to incorporate my creative skills. Being in account management, there are a lot of meetings, planning, strategies, and management, but if I can somehow involve my writing, design, or social media skills, then it makes it all the more enjoyable ?
What are your best sources of inspiration?
Where do I start!? Everywhere you turn is a source of inspiration! But to be a bit more concise, I’m a fashionista at heart and am inspired by avant-garde fashion and bridalwear designers: Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar de la Renta, and Zac Posen have successfully combined their creativity, sophistication, and professionalism into their line of work, and I hope to emulate that in my own way. I’m also inspired by the work that our team comes up with—I’m in awe of the work they’re able to produce, and it inspires me to be a better account manager because I want to represent their captivating work with conviction.
What special skills and expertise do you bring to your role?
I’d like to think my bright, bubbly personality is a special skill, but I feel my previous design/creative background is my secret weapon. Having this under my belt allows me to properly plan and manage projects because I have an intimate understanding of how long and what it takes to complete them.
What do you enjoy most about your role at Synapsis Creative?
The people, the positive work environment, and the friendly, supportive culture are HUGE reasons why Synapsis Creative is an enjoyable workplace. But the fact that I’m able to build on my foundational skills/knowledge in a different type of marketing, to work with a diverse clientele, and to freely express myself has made this role a dream come true.
How do you enjoy spending your free time?
I love to sleep and eat in my free time? When I’m not doing that, I’m most likely baking, singing, playing the ukulele, playing video games (Pokemon games for the win!), and sketching some fashion designs. I’m also very close with my sisters, so we explore, eat, and make more memories together when our schedules allow it.
Since this is your first time in Australia, what are you most looking forward to seeing/experiencing?
I’m most looking forward to seeing the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge! I’ve previously just seen them in pictures, and I can’t wait to actually see it for myself! I’d also like to see and feed koalas and kangaroos while I’m here. Oh—and finally trying Vegemite, TimTams, and Lamingtons to see what the buzz is all about.
Meet more of the team – such as our designers, Marcella, Sarah, Jeremie, Sam, Stephanie, Mark, and Zeeshan; our account managers Santiago, and Zachary; our content writers, Jay and Gloria; and our studio manager, Ash.
