We’ve all been there. Forced to watch the same boring PowerPoint’s in the same boring format. It’s gotten so bad that some schools want to ban slides. Spare your audience the pain of another boring PowerPoint with one of these fun presentation ideas.
Choose your own adventure
Why not give your audience content they want to see? This is easy to give them through PowerPoint’s interactive features, which you can read more about in this post. Simply set a title page with links to different parts of your presentation, then get your audience to vote on what they wish to see. The voting will engage your audience, and the selection will ensure they want to watch what you show them.
Of course, you can be creative as you want with this format. It’s your presentation, so why not try taking your audience on an adventure? Get them to make choices and give input that changes your presentation before their eyes.
Fill in the blanks
This is one of those fun presentation ideas to show who’s been paying attention. To do it, simply insert a slide with words and phrases with blanks to fill. Try adding this at the end of your presentation, and fill it with key points. Add the missing pieces in the next slides, and ask your audience how they would fill in the blanks. You’ll get some entertaining answers, and insight into what people remembered.
An excellent example can be seen at the end of this Ted Talk:
Animated PowerPoints are a worthwhile investment. We’ve written before about the advantages of animating in PowerPoint. As well as being effective at engaging audiences, it’s just more fun to see information in motion. On top of that, animation is incredibly easy to produce in PowerPoint. Despite its ease, it’s still quite rare in most presentation. This will make your animated presentation all the more impressive.
Pictures speak louder than words. In spite of this, most presentations hide them behind blocks of text. To really get your message across, give your audience powerful graphics. As well as being effective, purely visual presentations are rare. This makes them a bit of a novelty, which is at the heart of all fun presentation ideas.
But why are images so effective? Well, it’s proven that pictures are processed 60’000 times faster than words. Process that before your next presentation.
